Friday Frock and Fizz

misguided

Fridays in the summer feel so easy and breezy, don’t they? I’ve been gallivanting the globe the past few months, usually garbed in some form of a floral frock. I like this look, above, because of its styled spunk. Let’s pour a bellini at sunrise and kick off this weekend, shall we? Cheers!

Warby Parker Is Your Friend

A seasonal shout out to Warby Parker (again) because I believe in their intention. It’s pretty simple: give back. And give back they do. This summer WP hit a milestone of 500,000 glasses distributed to folks in need of a spectacle or two. Buy a pair, give a pair. Here are a few of my favorites…

Far Meadow

far-meadow-a-frame-cabinFar Meadow is on a helping of 20 delicious acres, bordered by the Sierra National Forest and about an hour from Yosemite. I am wishing and hoping to settle into an A Frame before the year’s end. The private property also offers a traditional log cabin for laying your head, and no matter where you sleep you’ll feel complete with mountain bikes, BBQ, fishing streams and even indoor plumbing. DREAMY

palm tree JBD

Just feeling quiet and dreamy today…sing along with me to the tunes of Rilo Kiley.

Let it be printed, let it be known
I’m leaving you, I’m going home
And all you can do is just watch me go

I’ve put you down, talked you up, defended your honor
And then packed it in and picked it up
And all you can do is watch me go

From the Eastern seaboard, the landlocked Midwest
The Keys, the Alps, the Black Hills and Budapest
With my heart in a sling, tail between my legs a-swinging
I’m sorry for leaving

But when the palm trees bow their heads
No matter how wrong I’ve been
L.A., you always let me back in

And you can bury me when my body breaks
In the earth that created me, in the Golden State
By my mama and her brother and their mama too

‘Cause I had a dream I was carried on backs
Of a thousand green birds
And they carried me to a place without words
And there was nothing, but there was everything

And it sounded like this

But when the palm trees bow their heads
No matter how cruel I’ve been
L.A., you always let me back in

And when the palm trees bow their heads,
No matter how cruel I’ve been,
L.A., you always let me back in, in

Oh back in, in
Oh back in, in

Garden of Growth

I’ve been traveling for weeks in bulk, since the first of this year. Mostly it’s been for my day job, immersed in the rock and roll of participating in life. No matter, I always make time to sprinkle in high five worthy all-play-stays. Today is no different, as I venture in and out from a well-needed favorite people hang out in South Carolina to a mix of California stars and sky. Continuously, I find my feet planted in a garden of growth. JBD is in full bloom and here’s hoping you are, too.

Independence Day

JBD in the sunshine

I’m hightailing it far South, where my roots run deep, fixin’ to do a lot of beach time and boating all weekend long. I took this (uh, knee selfie) photograph last summer on a personal peregrination. It’s all about the sunshine, of course, but also independence. Which is a freedom of self, an intention of goodness. So invest in goodness, kids. Because goodness never fails. xx, Jenny
